This kit, most recently marketed by Gunzye Sangyo was originally released in the late 70's by Entex, and later by Revell. It is still available.

Parts List (all parts molded in white, brown, beige, gold and clear): Two piece hull; clear skylights; brown base; beige decking sections; gold nameplate; 5 trees of lifeboats, davits, bulkheads, funnels, masts/derricks, vents, cranes, bossings, etc.; decals; and instructions.

Things we like: The kit itself is extremely well detailed and very accurate to the Lusitania at the time of her maiden voyage. While not without problems and inaccuracies the kit, as a whole is a tribute to the maker’s art. Many parts that are only slightly different port to starboard are individually molded. The engraving of the molds was also done to high standard. The many deadlights in the fore deck and quarterdeck, barely a millimeter square are represented. The simulated planking is also finely done. Window frames are another exquisite detail on this kit. Also the parts are very cleanly cast, with little or no flash. Remarkable considering the age of the molds and the number of times they've hands. The Sun Deck skylights are cast in clear plastic with raised panels representing the windowpanes, which greatly ease the job of painting.

Things we would like to see it have: The current instructions lack detail, especially in painting. If possible, the modeler should obtain a copy of the original instructions as issued by Entex. Some of the drawbacks are the molded on railings, which are of the solid type and have no detail on the backsides. Another failing is the shelter deck, which is molded too wide to properly, fit the hull. Also the housings for the navigation lights, which fit under the bridge wings, are under scale and fit poorly. Another poor fit is found the propeller shaft bossings.

Overall Comments: In all this is an excellent kit and a great candidate for an out of the box build. It has great room for the more advanced modeler to build it in one of several incarnations the ship had during her service life. With additional research, some scratch building, and the addition of p/e railings and ladders this kit builds into a museum quality kit anyone would be proud to display.
