Titanic
This is the 1:350 scale Titanic built by Remco Hillen.
A view of the Tankroom area. Things to note are the new Aft Grand
Staircase dome cover, Smoke room fireplace flue and some of the reconstructed
vents. The pipes on the aft side of #3 funnel have been changed too, they
actually broke when I was trying to get them into the correct shape. Luckily
it is now hardly noticeable due to the paint.
An area with several changes I made. Among these are the enclosed
staircase under the docking bridge (which turned out a bit large!), new
hatch covers on B-deck and new detailing of those on C-deck, reconstructed
cranes and several newly placed signs.
A nice overview of the Officers Quarters area. Lifeboats #1 & 2
have been 'opened' and an interior was build, there should be some oars
there too. Vent arrangements near the funnels have been changed, and the GSC
cover is new. Also note the 'canvas' at the compass tower, which is painted
tin foil.
As this is the old version of the Minicraft model, the #1 hatch
to be reconstructed, most of it was done with putty. The crows nest is new,
while I'll also 'swung out' the yard arm. Relatively easy job which gives a
nice result! You just have to cut it loose from the mast, apart from the
bottom edge and then *gently* pull it aft. It should remain in the new
position when bent back enough.
